A lot of people think like, Apple Pay is just another form of payment and while convient doesn’t have that many perks. But the case with RBC at least is that it’s actually a lifesaver in many cases if you actually misplace your credit card and you’re waiting for a physical one to be sent out.
Take today, I lost my card before leaving Taiwan and I called to have a new card sent out with a new number; which takes 7-10 days, which is kind of weird seeing as how it’s like 2-3 in Taiwan, but that’s because it’s couriered internationally I guess.
Where this becomes a lifesaver is during the waiting period. When you call your bank and they re-issue a new card number and send out a new physical card, your actual card in your Apple wallet will update and be useable within minutes.
So you no longer have to wait for the new card to come to use it at retailers. Before Apple Pay you’d have to wait for that new card to come or just be limited to making purchases online, actually you couldn’t even really do that because you wouldn’t be privy to the new credit card number to even use it for a payment, but if your using Apple Pay you can now continue using your credit card with Apple Pay within minutes of issuing the new card.
That actually saved my ass so many times. Like I’ve lost my credit card over 20 times in the past ten years Lol. Now it just helps to make sure I hold onto one thing, my iPhone.
